Respect for Jesus in Islam is profound and non-negotiable. Denying or disrespecting Jesus is considered disbelief in Islam because he is a core belief of the Islamic faith. Muslims are required to believe in all prophets, including Jesus, without distinction. Daily, in the declaration of faith (shahadah), belief in all God’s messengers is implied. Jesus is mentioned with honor in the Qur’an 93 times, more than Prophet Muhammad by name. His name is always followed by “peace be upon him.” This theological respect translates into practical reverence: Muslims are forbidden to speak ill of Jesus, and in dialogue with Christians, they are instructed to say, “We believe in what has been revealed to us and what has been revealed to you; our God and your God is One” (Qur’an 29:46).
Respect for Jesus is a mandatory article of Islamic faith. Denying him is disbelief. The Qur’an commands belief in all prophets without distinction:
"The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him from his Lord, and [so have] the believers. All of them have believed in Allah and His angels and His books and His messengers, [saying], 'We make no distinction between any of His messengers...'" (Qur’an 2:285)Jesus is mentioned with honor throughout, and Muslims are instructed to speak respectfully in dialogue:"And do not argue with the People of the Scripture except in a way that is best, except for those who commit injustice among them, and say, 'We believe in that which has been revealed to us and revealed to you. And our God and your God is one; and we are Muslims [in submission] to Him.'" (Qur’an 29:46)
